As the Texas State Men and Boys Choir ramps up its efforts to audition, develop, instruct and showcase its Boys ...
With over 80 invites to our first fundraiser assembled, addressed and mailed by choir members and staff, the odds of a successful evening were already looking pretty good.
And as the evening played out, it was indeed a huge success for the growing organization.
Billed as a “Country Dinner & Fundraiser,” the June 25th event raised the roof at Cattleman’s Steakhouse in the Fort Worth Stockyards. A silent auction and early mingling gave way to the specialty chicken-fried steak and plenty of raucous table talk amongst choir members and patrons.
Following an ample supper, Mens Choir members, accompanied by Mens Choir Director Alan Buratto, performed for the crowd, further shaking the rafters with a full and stirring sound.
The proceeds benefitted the TSMBC summer training conference and camp for new boys choir members and hopefuls.
“We set out to raise awareness first, and I think we were very successful in that regard,” said TSMBC Executive Director Gary McGrath. And of course we were here to raise money for our summer development, and the results were both surprising and gratifying. We are very fortunate and thankful.”
